Machine Demonstration in Egeskov, Fyn Denmark. Patriotiske Selskab was the host for the Demonstration of drying facilities, grain carts and tyre pressure versa soil compaction. The machine demonstration was held on Egeskov property.
Left tyres 1,2 bar right side tyres 3,5 bar. Axle load 10 ton per axle | | The grain carts were filled and weighed on a large scale to find out the weight on each axle. Each wagon was set up with the correct air pressure on one side. The other side of the wagon was set with a high pressure. Photos show how the tyre pressure on the different side on the wagons. The test was not scientifically made made only to show and indicate the difference between low air pressure and the contact surface on tyres to the soil. The footprint of each tyre was measured and calculated how much pressure each tyre made per cm2. From soilcompation view there are to sorts of compaction. The compaction in the top layer 0-60 cm on the soil and the compaction in the bottom of the soil 60 cm and down. The footprint and tyre pressure impact on the top of the soil and the axle pressure impacts in the lower compaction 60 cm and lower. The test shows that grain carts with many axles had significant lower axle pressure and if they had low airpressure and large footprint they also made less damage in the upper layer of the soil.
Tyres with small foot print sank much more than tyres with large footprint even if the pressure was normal for its capacity in field
